The Switzerland Film Commission presents a new strategic direction and a new co-presidency

For several years, the Switzerland Film Commission (SFC) has acted as the umbrella organization of the four regional film commissions and as a representative of other regions in Switzerland. Its goal is to position Switzerland as an attractive filming location for audiovisual productions at and to attract international projects to the country. As part of a reorganization, the SFC has elected a new Co Presidency ad interim and defined a new strategic direction based on its previous experience

New Co-Presidency and expansion of the Board
At the last SFC Board meeting, a Co-Presidency ad interim was appointed, which will manage the organization’s business until the next General Assembly in June 2025.

The Co-Presidency consists of:

  • Lisa Barzaghi, Operations Manager Ticino Film Commission
  • Tristan Albrecht, Head Film Commissioner Valais Film Commission

The new Co-Presidency brings with it many years of experience in the audiovisual industry and is committed to establishing Switzerland as a leading film location. The previous President Niklaus Zeier, Head of the Lucerne and Central Switzerland Film Commission, stepped down at the last General Assembly, but remains active on the Board and supports the new direction of the SFC.

The Board of the SFC is now composed as follows:

    • Lisa Barzaghi, Operations Manager Ticino Film Commission (Co-President ad
      interim)
    • Tristan Albrecht, Head Film Commissioner Valais Film Commission (Co-President
      ad interim)
    • Dino Malacarne, Managing Director Film Commission Zurich
    • Niklaus Zeier, Head Film Commission Lucerne and Central Switzerland
    • Heinz Dill, representative of the producers’ associations
    • Beni Lehmann, representative of “Bern for Film”

 

New strategic direction

The core of the new strategy is the expansion of the international presence and network of the Switzerland Film Commission. The aim is to position Switzerland as a leading film location at and to better integrate regional film locations.

The central pillars of the new strategy are:

  • Participation in international festivals and industry events to promote the
    diversity of the Swiss regions as filming locations
  • Building and maintaining a strong international network to increase Switzerland’s
    competitiveness compared to other European film nations
  • Harmonizing the strategies of the regional film commissions, film offices
    and tourism organizations in order to exploit synergies and increase the visibility of
    Switzerland as a film country

 

Presentation of the new strategy in Solothurn
The new SFC strategy will be presented at the Solothurn Film Festival as part of an invitation-only event. On the evening of January 23, 2025, an event open to the public will take place at Uferbau in collaboration with the Solothurn Film Festival.
In addition, the Switzerland Film Commission will be briefly introduced on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 14:45 before the panel “Die Landschaft Casten” as part of SO PRO. The panel will be followed by a networking aperitif for all accredited guests at.
