For the first time ever, the Switzerland Film Commission (SFC) will be officially represented at the renowned Cannes Film Festival and its film market – a significant milestone on the road to international expansion.
The Switzerland Film Commission, which represents the various regions of Switzerland as well as the film commissions of Lucerne, Zurich, Ticino, and Valais, will highlight Switzerland’s scenic diversity, efficient infrastructure, and cultural richness as an attractive location for international productions.
Following highly acclaimed appearances in Beijing and Lisbon, participation in Cannes underscores the SFC’s ambition to further strengthen its visibility among film industry professionals. Throughout the festival, SFC co-presidents Lisa Barzaghi and Tristan Albrecht will meet with international producers, expand their partner network, and showcase Switzerland’s logistical, artistic, and natural advantages for film and audiovisual productions.
“Our presence in Cannes is a natural and necessary step in our outreach strategy. We are proud to represent a creative, hospitable, and cooperative Switzerland. Now is the time for Switzerland to position itself as an indispensable player,” says Lisa Barzaghi.
The highlight of the event will be an exclusive Swiss evening on the beach, where guests can enjoy traditional raclette, Valais wines, and Ticino panettone—a convivial and warm event for forging lasting contacts with filmmakers from all over the world—barefoot in the sand.
“Great ideas often arise from informal encounters in Cannes. Offering a moment of exchange is also an opportunity to show who we are: warm, authentic, and open to collaboration,” adds Tristan Albrecht.
With its presence in Cannes, the Switzerland Film Commission is reaffirming its ambition to establish Switzerland as a top location for international film productions and to enter into long-term partnerships with the talents and producers of tomorrow. This commitment is a central component of the SFC’s international promotion strategy, which aims to position Switzerland as a key player in film production.
