The Switzerland Film Commission refines its strategy and strengthens its national presence.

The Switzerland Film Commission (SFC) held its annual general meeting today at Studio13 in Sion. The meeting was marked by strategic decisions and important developments aimed at strengthening Switzerland’s position as a leading film location.

The Switzerland Film Commission is delighted to welcome a new member: the Fribourg Office. This expands the network of regions committed to promoting Switzerland as a location for national and international film productions. The SFC also presented its new roadmap for 2025–2028, with a clear goal: to strengthen Switzerland as a film location and make it a preferred destination for film shoots. To achieve this, it is focusing on the diversity of the regions as film locations and supporting the introduction of national incentive measures in the medium term. Its strategy is based on four pillars: raising awareness among public and private stakeholders of the economic importance of the audiovisual sector, facilitating film projects, supporting the development of new regional film commissions, and actively promoting Switzerland as a film country.

Strong international presence
To maintain its international visibility, the Switzerland Film Commission will participate in two important industry events in partnership with Swiss Films: the Munich Film Festival in June and the MIA in Rome in October. These events offer an opportunity to position Switzerland at the center of professional exchange and showcase its cinematic potential.

Clear priorities
In addition to these concrete measures, the SFC intends to focus its efforts on two key areas: the medium-term development of strong national economic incentives (e.g., cash rebates) and the development of a more concise communication strategy to raise awareness of its mission, partners, and the country’s strengths.

A dedicated new committee
To realize these ambitions, the Switzerland Film Commission confirmed the co-presidency of Lisa Barzaghi (Ticino Film Commission) and Tristan Albrecht (Valais Film Commission). They are supported by Dino Malacarne (Zurich Film Commission), Heinz Dill (President of the SFP and member of Film Location Riviera), and new members Lili Kaelin (Lucerne & Central Switzerland Film Commission), Nicole Barras (Swiss Film and Video Syndicate), and Timothy Ross (IG – Independent Swiss Producers). They all share the common goal of making Switzerland shine on the silver screen.

The 2025 General Assembly marks a structural turning point for the Switzerland Film Commission. With a clear vision, tools under development, and a strengthened team, the SFC is asserting its key role in building a dynamic, competitive film ecosystem that is fully integrated into regional, national, and international realities.
