On the occasion of the 78th edition of the Locarno Film Festival, the Switzerland Film Commission (SFC) will, for the first time, take part in several key events of Locarno Pro, thereby reaffirming its central role within both the Swiss and international audiovisual landscape.
As a partner of Locarno Pro, the Switzerland Film Commission will participate in two discussion panels addressing current challenges in the fields of co-production and audiovisual project development. These discussions offer an opportunity to foster synergies among industry players while also highlighting the mission and the diverse regions represented by the SFC.
Within the framework of the Alliance 4 Development program – a strategic platform supporting co-productions between several European countries – the SFC is also committed to strengthening its engagement in transnational collaboration. A4D brings together 11 projects in development, led by both emerging and established producers. The goal is to support the artistic and financial structuring of the films while encouraging sustainable cooperation between partner countries. Over three intensive days, project representatives benefit from one-on-one meetings, pitching sessions, workshops, and networking lunches – providing a valuable springboard for international co-productions.
A highlight of the Switzerland Film Commission’s presence at the Locarno Festival will be the Locarno Pro Lunch, taking place on Saturday, 9 August 2025, at the Hotel Belvédère. This informal gathering is designed specifically for industry professionals to foster exchange and explore new opportunities for collaboration.
Throughout the event, the SFC will also hold numerous meetings with producers and representatives from both the Swiss and international audiovisual sectors as part of Meet & Greet formats.
Finally, the Switzerland Film Commission will also take part in the launch press conference of the Geneva Film Commission – a significant milestone in the expansion of the film commission network in Switzerland. The SFC warmly welcomes this new initiative:
“We are very pleased that Geneva is establishing its own film commission and look forward to future collaboration. The creation of this body further strengthens Switzerland’s visibility as an attractive filming location,” emphasise Lisa Barzaghi and Tristan Albrecht, Co-Presidents of the SFC.
