Fribourg

The medieval old town was built on a bend in the Sarine River. With cliffs towering above it, you can still see bits of the ramparts that once protected it and their typical towers, including the Belluard belfry, which hosts the Open Air cinema and the Belluard Bollwerk Festival in the summer.

Bell towers, convents, and monasteries bear witness to the strong Catholic influence in this region.
Numerous cobbled streets and picturesque stairways, as well as a charming funicular railway, connect the lower town, once a working-class area, to the Gothic cathedral and the sandstone facades of the patrician houses that lead to the present-day city and its bustling student life, to the Boulevard du Plateau de Pérolles and its industrial neighborhoods from the last century, which real estate developers are transforming into housing with large construction projects.
All those scenes are within sight in the city of Fribourg, which stretches out its suspended metal footbridges and wooden, stone or concrete bridges towards the German-speaking countryside.
In Fribourg, you can work in French or German, between city and countryside, plains and mountains, yesterday and today.
